27 CHAMPION GRANTS PROGRAM

SUPER BOWL LXI LEGACY INITIATIVE

The greatest legacy of the Super Bowl isn’t inspiring the next NFL player. It’s inspiring the next generation of healthy, connected young people, families and communities.

This Super Bowl legacy initiative is designed to turn a major sporting moment into lasting community impact. Rooted in parks, schools, recreation centers, and community organizations, the initiative will expand access to flag football for young people across Los Angeles, with a special focus on girls and communities that have had historically fewer opportunities to participate in organized sport.

A total of 27 grants to be awarded to support programming, coaching, field access, transportation, equipment and community infrastructure.

Grants will be awarded to community-based organizations, smaller school districts and parks and recreation departments.

27 CHAMPION GRANTS PROGRAM

PRIORITIES

This is an open and competitive process with priority given to organizations that:
  • Currently provide flag football programming. Priority will be given to programs focused on girls that are working to increase access to flag football for girls.
  • Would like to start a flag football program; either a standalone program or at an organization as part of their sports programming.
  • Work at the grassroots level to support youth. Priority will be given to efforts that are community focused and serve youth that have limited access to this sport and have been historically disadvantaged, underserved or overlooked.
  • Located in and work and serve communities within Los Angeles County.
  • Offer low or no-cost programming 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must be a 501c3, fiscally sponsored organization or public entity
  • Grants are for flag football programs only
  • NFL FLAG programs are not eligible for funding
  • Flag football program must take place in Los Angeles County
  • Flag football program benefits youth 18 and under.

 

27 CHAMPION GRANTS PROGRAM

APPLICATION

The application will also include a narrative section that will include the following questions:

  • Brief overview of the organization, mission, and programming

  • The population that is served by the program including demographics, area of LA County where the work occurs, and number of people served annually.

  • Description of the type of Flag Football program (or check box): School based, community based, park and rec based). If school based is the program affiliated with the NFL Flag-In-School Program

  • If organization is fiscally sponsored, details on the fiscal sponsor and information on any MOUs in place.

  • Organization budget and project budget per grant year

  • List of current funders

Number of Grants:  27 grants in total will be awarded. These grants will be two-year grants ranging between $15,000-$50,000 (e.g. $20,000 award is $10,000 per year)

Reporting requirements:

Year One: Progress Report-narrative and financial report

Year Two: Final Report-narrative and financial Report
